Hot Spots at School
Keeping your kids healthy at school is difficult because you’re not there to help them. So the best defense is teaching them at home when and how to wash their hands properly (at least two minutes with soap and water) and what to look for.
Consider taking it a step further. Discuss cleaning schedules and methods with your school officials, and arm your child with cleaning wipes and a non-toxic germ-fighting spray.
But even in the cleanest of schools, germs have a way of finding the these “hot spots” in which to linger and thrive:
-
Coat racks
-
Welcome and sleeping mats
-
Door knobs and handles
-
Communal toys and games
-
Vending machine buttons and surfaces
-
Drinking fountains and fountain handles
-
Cafeteria surfaces (tabletops, tray return, garbage collection areas)
-
Keypads and calculators
-
Computer keyboards and monitor screens
-
On other children who appear sick and should have stayed home.
