Germ University

Welcome to MyClyns Germ University.

By the time you “graduate,” you'll be armed with all the information you need to protect you and your family from harmful germs, especially during cold and flu season. You'll learn about the different germs which populate your home, school, and workplace. You'll discover the best methods for fighting these
harmful germs (pathogens) and preventing them from spreading. And you'll find out why everyone's talking about the H1N1 virus (also known as Swine Flu).

Let's get started.

Germ Protection
In this section, we'll outline the history of germs, and the milestones related to fighting them, from Louis Pasteur to the deadly 1918 Flu Pandemic; and from the discovery of penicillin to the modern Flu and H1N1 Swine Flu vaccinations. You'll also find the following information:

Antibacterial Products: an overview of household cleaning products and personal sanitizers and germ protection sprays designed to fight pathogens in your living environment

Germ Glossary: a terrific alphabetical reference to help increase your understanding of the terminology related to germs

Germ Hot Spots: a useful section that describes the many often-surprising nooks and crannies in which germs love to hide in your home, your child's school, and your workplace. We'll give you tips so you can protect yourself from germs while traveling, whether you're in a hotel room, airport, or restaurant.

H1N1 Swine Flu Center

You've heard the news reports, and you and your family are concerned about this new strain of flu that first appeared in April 2009. In this section, we'll help you understand everything you need to know about the H1N1 virus and how best to protect yourself and your family this cold and flu season.

Symptoms of the H1N1 Swine Flu Virus: Coughing, fever, body aches... how do you know if you have the flu, and which type of flu do you have? This page will help you to recognize the first signs of H1N1 Swine Flu infection.

H1N1 Vaccines: We'll discuss the three different H1N1 vaccines that are currently available in the United States, and we'll help you identify if you or a member of your family is in a “priority/high-risk” group. If so, you may be able to be first in line to receive the vaccine.

H1N1 Virus Resources: A collection of links to websites that contain the most up-to-date information about H1N1 Swine Flu, such as the Center for Disease Control's www.Flu.gov.

H1N1 Articles: A collection of the important-to-read articles about the H1N1 virus, written by our very own germ protection experts. For example, "What Can I Do?" is a concise list of ways to be proactive when it comes to fighting germs, from simple handwashing to limiting the infection's spread if you already have it. And "Is It Safe To Travel?" When the first outbreak of H1N1 in the United States occurred in April 2009, travel was restricted to countries already experiencing severe outbreaks, like Mexico and China. We'll help you be safer on your next trip, whether it's business or pleasure.

Infectious Diseases
H1N1 Virus, or Swine Flu, isn't the only bug in town unfortunately. Find out about the other harmful germs that you'll need more knowledge (and perhaps a germ killing spray!) to battle effectively. Such as...

Staph: a bacteria that causes common skin infections, from minor irritations to dangerous, antibiotic-resistant strains known as MRSA.

E-Coli: a bacteria that causes gastrointestinal sickness, ranging from minor discomfort to life-threatening illness.
